Catholic Life of the School

At Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Primary School, the Catholic faith is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create a loving, inclusive community where every child is valued as a unique child of God and encouraged to live out the Gospel values in their daily lives. Our school’s mission is to nurture the spiritual, moral, and emotional development of each pupil, helping them to grow in faith, hope, and love.

Through daily prayer, liturgy and celebration of the liturgical year, our children develop a deep understanding of the Catholic faith and an appreciation for the wider world and their role within it.

The regular teaching of Christian virtues is woven throughout our curriculum and daily routines, helping children to understand and practise qualities such as kindness, honesty, patience, and respect. These virtues guide how we treat one another and form the foundation of our school community, supporting pupils to become caring and responsible citizens who live out their faith through their actions.

We work closely with our parish community, parents and the Diocese of Leeds to ensure that faith is not only taught but lived – guiding our pupils to show compassion, forgiveness, and respect in all they do. Rooted in our school’s motto, “As the family of God, with Jesus, we love, learn and enjoy,” we encourage every member of our community to act justly, love tenderly and walk humbly with God.
