Love, Learn and Enjoy.
Glimpses of God
At Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Primary School, we believe that we see Glimpses of God every day — in the kindness, joy, and love shared throughout our school community. These moments remind us that God is always present, guiding and inspiring us to live out our mission:
“As the family of God, with Jesus, we love, learn and enjoy.”
Here are some of the ways we experience Glimpses of God in our daily school life:
-
In our friendships: When children show kindness, include others in play, or comfort someone who is feeling sad, we see God’s love in action.
-
In our learning: When pupils persevere, work together and celebrate each other’s achievements, we see the gifts and talents God has given each of us.
-
In prayer and liturgy: During moments of reflection, prayer and liturgy, we feel God’s presence among us, uniting us as one family in faith.
-
In acts of service: When our pupils take part in fundraising, charity work and outreach within the parish and local community, they live out the call to serve others as Jesus taught.
-
In nature: When we explore God’s creation—through outdoor learning, caring for our school environment, or noticing the beauty around us—we are reminded of His creativity and goodness.
-
In forgiveness: When children say sorry, forgive and begin again, we see God’s mercy at work in our relationships.
-
In joy: Whether it’s singing in assembly, celebrating achievements, or simply enjoying time together, we see Glimpses of God in the happiness and laughter that fill our school.
Every member of our community—children, staff, parents, and parish—plays a part in making these Glimpses of God visible each day.
Together, we recognise and celebrate the many ways God’s love shines through our school family.
Hymns and Songs at Our Lady's
At Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Primary School, we love to sing and praise God together!
Music is a joyful and important part of our worship, helping us to express our faith and deepen our connection with God. Through singing, we celebrate the love of Jesus and share that joy with one another as one family of God.
We come together in school each week for hymn practice, filling our school with songs of praise and thanksgiving. Singing brings our community closer and reminds us that prayer can be expressed not only in words, but also in the joy of music. We particulary enjoy the Mark 10 Mission hymns and love to join in with the actions on screen.
Below are some of our favourite hymns that we enjoy in school — we invite you to share them at home with your families and join us in giving thanks and praise to God through song.

September
Each week in school, a whole school hymns session is led by Miss. James. The children thoroughly enjoy this time to sing some familiar hymns as well as building up a repertoire of new ones in line with the Liturgical Calendar. Join in with us if you know the words...
October
In the month of October, the children have been invited to come and pray a decade of the Rosary at playtime. The response from the children has been phenomenal. Over 40 children attended our first session. The Mark 10 Mission online resources have helped the children to center themselves, have some time of silence and experience the stillness of Jesus in their own hearts.
Staff have also thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to have 10 minutes early in the morning to pray a decade of the Rosary as a team.
